1. 2. 3.
Our lovely hotel.
Man, these first three weeks in Tokyo have been amazing and extremely tiring. The day that I arrived (after an impromptu lay over in Minneapolis and a 14 hour flight) I went on 5 castings. I thought that they were joking when they said that I was to start working right when I got there. Nope, they were serious. What I didn't know was that castings here go until around 10 pm, sometimes later. One of the managers picked me up from Shinjuku Station and drove me and my mom to the castings. I went on 5. I almost passed out because of the jet lag, etc. Many models have told me that they had to go to a job the day that they got in, one even said that she had to go on 12 castings upon her arrival. They really work you here.....
They put that on my head....
The first week I was here I went on castings. Though some models begin work immediately I didn't, but that's completely normal. Castings usually start around 12 and end at 10 pm. It's quite exhausting to say the least. Over the weekend I had two test shoots. They were both beauty. Of course they put some very interesting head pieces on me.....
Before the hail.
The second week was very good. I booked two jobs! One was for So-En Magazine (Japanese) and the other was for Elle Indonesia. I was so happy that I booked them because finally all of my hard work from the week before payed off. We get a work sheet for our jobs the night before and my call time for the So-En magazine shoot was 4am. Oh, I am not joking. So I got up bright and early at 3:30am and headed the the AM/PM, my meeting place. Once me and my mom were picked up in the "Beat" bus, we drove 4 hours to a lake ( I can't remember the name of it). The theme was out doors/hiking gear (the styling reminded me a lot of Teen Vogue). We knocked out 3 of the 8 looks when suddenly it began to .................. HAIL. Um, what?! Ya, that's what I was thinking too. It was completely random. To make a long story short, we had to drive four hours back to Tokyo, to the studio, finish the looks, and completed the shoot at 11 pm. 20 hours. Well I hope the pictures turn out good. The second job I had for Elle was so easy! It only lasted like 5 hours and I got to wear Louis Vuitton and Burberry F/W collections. It was amazing. And it was in a giant house, that a family let us borrow which made it even better.
So far this week I have been on many castings including Elle, Canon, Fendi, and the list goes on and ON. Hopefully I can have some time off this weekend, but we will see about that. Next week I have many options for jobs, so keep your fingers crossed that they follow through!
Until next time...
